Our Mission:

The Police Cyclist Program is a recognized program in the Province. We have 65% of our front line officers trained in Essex County, along with 50% of the Auxiliary members trained. Sergeant Ricardo (Rico) Tonial is the Western Region Police Cyclist Coordinator, and he is also a Master Police Cyclist Instructor for the OPP Academy.

The Essex County OPP has a well equipped unit with 8 top of the line bikes, and all officers are supplied with the required equipment by the OPP QM store. The Bike Patrols have proven very successful at our festivals, parades and are an excellent front-line policing tool.
